Polio is an infectious disease caused by a Poliovirus which results in crippling deformities of the lower limbs over the years, causing an inability to walk. For thousands of years Polio has existed, with depictions of the disease in ancient art.
Individuals affected from by Polio require surgery not only on for the bones but also the affected muscles to reduce the deformity resulting in a straight leg allowing the individual to walk with or without caliper. Individuals in many cases affected with from Polio undergo the following problems hampering with their mobility:
- Walking disorder( Hand to knee gait)
- Deformity in the foot

- Shortening of leg
- Very weak and short leg
- Hip instability
